Daniel Edmund Peters

July 21, 1936 — January 16, 2022

Worthington, OH

Daniel Edmund Peters, 85, of Worthington OH (formerly of Bloomfield MI and Waterford MI), passed away peacefully on January 16, 2022, surrounded by loving family. Third child of Herbert Edmund Peters and Ruth Goulding, Dan leaves behind his wife of 58 years, Helene Beggs Peters. They have four surviving children: Kevin (spouse Jennifer; Corvallis OR), Ellen (Martin; Eugene OR), Christopher (Collette; Franklin TN), and Dennis aka Drew (Reno NV). Dan was preceded in death by his parents, sister Donna Yaklevich (John), and brother Jerry (Charlene). He also leaves behind five grandchildren – Michelle Hjelm and Zachery, Thomas, Kaia, and Coral Peters.

Dan was born in Columbus, OH on July 21, 1936. He graduated from Rosary High School, as a proud buckeye of The Ohio State University, and with an MBA from Duquesne University. He was an artist and award-winning athlete, excelling as a southpaw in baseball and basketball. One friend remembers Dan’s great hook shot – while we still cherish the never-used kid-sized lefty first-baseman’s mitt he bought his kids before we were born. Dan worked from the ripe old age of six until seventy-six. He had an entrepreneurial spirit and founded both Construction Resources, a market research firm, and Studio50s, a vintage mid-century furniture store.

Dad taught his kids to work hard and enjoy life. He learned soccer to coach his kids and outdoor recreation skills to help us in Boy Scouts. He touched many people throughout his lifetime by being generous, open, and friendly to all, even by today’s standards. Dan was an exceptionally kind and good man, and he will be missed.

Our family feels profound gratitude to Jeff and Jenny, whose friendships enlivened the latter chapters of Dad’s life.
