Larry Elwood Landers

Larry Elwood Landers, age 75, passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 2, 2020. He was born on August 8, 1944, in Moundsville, West Virginia to the late George
Landers and Velma (Wandling).

He leaves behind his wife Patricia Landers, Son Wayne Landers, Daughter Cheralyn Corlett (husband Matt), Son Brian Landers (wife Angie), Grandchildren Seth Corlett, Tyler Peebles, Brian Landers, Janet Landers, and Shannon Corlett all of Columbus. 15 nieces & nephews, and their families.

Larry loved life and people. As a boy he lived to play baseball, caddy at the golf course, collecting the golf balls & sell them back to the golfers, playing football, and fish. He was a proud graduate of John Marshall High, Glen Dale, WV Class of 1962

. He enlisted in the Air Force in October, 1964 where he was trained to operate Mainframe Computers. He was honorably discharged in October, 1970. While stationed at Rickenbacker Airforce Base he met Patrica and they were married on the base in 1967. Larry retired from the State of Ohio Bureau of Employment Services after 35 years of service.

He worked many jobs over the course of his life including working on a large dairy farm and a produce farm in Tennessee where he and his family worked for nearly 3 years. He enjoyed being on the farm. Family brought them back to Ohio. After retirement Larry found volunteering with his son Brian, who runs the Power for Change food pantry, rewarding. He helped with many local food pantries around Columbus.

He attended Power for Change Community Church.

He is preceded in death by his oldest son Larry Landers II, his parents George and Velma Landers, his brothers Harley Landers, Henry Landers, George Landers Jr, Virgil Landers, and his sisters, Clodia Ellen Landers, Dana (Wilson) and Ruth (Moore), and Bethra Mae (Junco).

Services will be held at Edwards Funeral Service at 1166 Parsons Ave. Columbus Ohio on Wednesday August 12, 2020 Visitation from 9 am to 10am. Service will be at 10am. Following the service Larry will be laid to rest with Military Honors at Dayton National Cemetery located at 4400 W Third St, Dayton, OH 45428
