Louise Violet Johnson

December 18, 1932 — April 12, 2021

Columbus

Louise Violet Johnson was born to Jordan Lewis Jackson and Madeline Alice Jackson on December 18, 1932, in Columbus, Ohio.  She died peacefully at home in her sleep on Monday, April 12, 2021.

Louise was raised and educated in Columbus, Ohio.  Louise graduated from Columbus East High School in 1951.  She worked for the United States Post Office, Citizen Journal and Columbus Dispatch.

Louise married James Otis Johnson in 1952 and from this union came four daughters and one son:  Marian Louise Bankhead, Jacquelyn Faye Colson, June Marie Harris (Stephen), Michele Lynn Johnson, and James Otis Johnson, Jr.  She is preceded in death by her husband, James, parents Jordan and Madeline, siblings Robert Jackson, James Jackson, Flora Anthony, Mildred Carter, and Alice Virginia Craddolph, son-in-law Michael Bankhead, grandson Marcus Bankhead and is survived by all five children; by her sister Dorothy Bell; by her grandchildren Michael Bankhead II  (Misty) and Ay’sa Carethers, along with a host of nieces and nephews, in-laws, long-time friends and a great crowd of spiritual brothers and sisters.

The introduction to this huge spiritual family of hers began in 1961, when Louise responded positively to an offer of a free home Bible study by one of Jehovah’s Witnesses.  She was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on July 5, 1963 at the “Everlasting Good News” International Assembly in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and served as a regular pioneer or full-time minister of the good news for 37 years, with the Eastgate and Pickerington Congregations.  She was well known throughout the communities she witnessed in, as she brought comfort to others with the message that brought so much comfort to her.  She assisted many to serve Jehovah right alongside her.  Although she always spoke her mind, she was a spiritual “mom” to many.  She was a strong spiritual soldier in the large army of women telling the good news, and she absolutely loved the ministry. Like Anna, who was always found at the temple, Louise was always at the meetings; arriving early, staying late, and always ready to comment and share her faith.

Louise also loved roller skating, sports, dancing, crossword puzzles, and board games, especially Scrabble.  She also loved watching Ohio State football games and attending Columbus Clippers baseball games.  She was hospitable and enjoyed having friends over and enjoyed hosting the book study at her home for many years.

Most of all, Louise loved serving her Almighty God, Jehovah, and helping people to get to know Him by studying His Word, the Bible.  She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and Bible students.

Lovingly submitted,

The Family

“And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore.  The former things have passed away.”
