Ruby Hunt-Newland (King), 65, of Columbus Ohio, passed away July 13, 2020, at Grant Hospital surrounded by her husband and children.
Ruby was born on October 19, 1954, in Dillon South Carolina, and the oldest child of the late Early B and Dorelina (Doreen) Hunt. She was formerly married to Richard (Dick) King, deceased, and remarried in December 2012 to Larry Newland, who survives.
Ruby loved life and if you knew Ruby you know she loved to make people laugh, she liked to joke, her country music, loved her family and loved to cook and get mad at you if you didn't eat. Ruby was everyone's favorite aunty she had a way of making you feel like you were special and you belonged to her. She treated everyone with love and kindness and would give you the shirt off of her back. Ruby collected elephants and believed her elephants were a blessing and a sign of good luck.
Ruby is survived by her loving spouse Larry Newland, her daughter Esther (Ernest) Whitted in Columbus, her son John (Andreana) King in Springfield, her sister's Lola Hunt, Julie Hunt, Betty Bias (Hunt) and brother's Paul Hunt, James Hunt, and Allen Hunt. Ruby's grandchildren Asia, Micheal, Malachi, Corrionna, and Jayonna will miss their "Grandma Ruby" greatly. Her many nieces Christena, Michelle (deceased), Danielle, Samantha and nephews Melvin, James, Anthony, Timothy, Huey, Christopher and so many more will miss her laughter and love.
The family will announce a memorial gathering for Saturday, July 18th 12-4 location TBD.
