William Steven Callahan

April 16, 1954 — January 16, 2021

William Steven Callahan was born on April 16, 1954. He passed peacefully on January 16, 2021 at 4:45 AM with family by his side, following a long history of medical issues. His brother, Dan Callahan, was by his side through it all—a true Rock. Preceded in death by son, Steven; father, William George Callahan; mother, Helen Howell; and brother, Tim Callahan. He is survived by sons, Jon Callahan, Joe Callahan, James Norris; and daughter, Jessica (Lee) Rotheram; Granddaughters, Raiah, Reilly; Brothers, David (Cathy) Callahan, Dan Callahan; Several wonderful Nieces, Dana, Michelle, Heather, Melissa; Nephew, Chris; Aunts and uncles; Soulmate, Annie Norris; and close friends, Garland and Diane Flowers, Terry Farley, Mike Hobb, Mike Cooper and many more.

Bill will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Bill had many loves in his life: family, friends, and music. An incredibly talented musician: singer, saxophone, bass, but his true love was the guitar. The guitar was an extension of him never to be separated. Bill has such a unique and special life. A true entertainer whose career spanned decades. Touring overseas with the Flowers Co in the 80s. Some other bands he was in are Bashelder, High Point, Legend, Cha Cha’s, Country Renegades, Natten Fancy, and Gun Smoke.

He often commented he served his country not in war but to entertain troops and soldiers that defended our country by giving them hope and appreciation, to know they were not forgotten but praised for their bravery. Bill came from humble beginnings but lived life and loved life. Wild Bill, yes, he was, but he showed others life is precious and meant to be loved and shared. If only through a song or musical instrument. By far one of the best guitarists, he was influenced by such guitar legends as Gary Moore Stevie Ray Vaughn Eric Clapton and Carlos Santana. Bill had such wonderful stories to tell; giving Bob Hope a cup of tea and Tanya Tucker directions, and many more. One story comes to mind which occurred in his earliest years. He was invited to a party by someone in the circus. He ended up in the newspapers by startling an elephant, which, in turn, caused the elephant to break his arm.

We will miss Bill's music, sense of humor and artistic talents so much. Play on and join your brother Tim and make the music everyone enjoyed so much. A gathering will be held during the spring during Bill's Birthday. Location to be disclosed at a later date. Prepare for some awesome music and to celebrate a truly special life.
